Weddings
A WEDDING CELEBRATION, RENEWAL OF VOWS, or COMMITMENT SERVICE at The Frederick Stegmaier Mansion is truly a memorable and unparalleled experience. We take pride in creating an event that is exclusively yours. The Mansion staff dedicates its talent and diligence in making your rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception personal, regal, and unforgettable for you, your family, and your guests. Therefore, we want you to participate in every design of your celebration.
We assist you in planning your bridal shower, bridesmaid luncheon, rehearsal dinner, ceremony, wedding reception and brunch the following morning. Each menu is custom designed for your palate and individuality, and priced according to your budget.
Proprietor Joseph Matteo and Executive Chef Mary Louise Hepner are available to assist you in the creation of your menu and all other appropriate plans that will make your event unique and cherished by you and your guests. Appointments may be made by calling 570-823-9372.
FACILITY RENTAL and SET-UP FEE
A facility use rental and set-up fee is required when you chose to outsource your menu. The rental fee includes set-up, tables, skirting, silver, crystal, china and linens. This fee is based on the attendance number, unique set-up, etc. Costs will be adjusted accordingly. The rental fee also includes the supervision of our executive chef during food preparation and serving. In addition, there is a refundable damage deposit of $500 required. The average length of a reception from arrival to departure is three hours. Should you wish to extend your celebration, the cost is an additional $200 per hour or any portion thereof. IF YOU CHOOSE TO HAVE YOUR MENU CATERED BY OUR STAFF THERE IS NO RENTAL OR SET-UP FEE REQUIRED.
MEAL COSTS
The average cost of fare per person plus tax and gratuity is: $15 for breakfast receptions - $30 for brunch receptions - $35 to $55 for afternoon receptions and $60 to $85 for evening receptions. To all costs, please budget 18% gratuity and 6% tax.
WEDDING PACKAGE
The wedding package includes rehearsal dinner on Friday evening, ceremony and wedding reception on Saturday afternoon or evening, and breakfast/brunch the following morning.
Rehearsal Dinner: Hors d'oeuvres, Appetizer, Soup, Salad, Intermezzo, Entrée and Dessert, followed by our “Grande Coffee Bar“ and complimentary cordials. Average cost is $95-$125 per person.
Wedding Banquet is custom priced per your menu design.
Breakfast/Brunch which is served daily to Bed and Breakfast guests, is included in the nightly room rate. Additional guests are welcome; however, reservations are required. Cost per person is $15 for breakfast and $30 for brunch.
Lodging costs for rooms and suites are based on double occupancy and vary according to season. (Please inquire at the time of reservation.) Some units can accommodate a third occupant at a rate of $35 per night per person plus tax.
Facility usage includes a host from the arrival of your guests to the time of their departure; set-up for rehearsal dinner, wedding ceremony (if applicable), reception; breakfast/brunch set-up; table and chairs, etc.
WEDDING CAKES
The Stegmaier Mansion wedding cake cost averages $6 per guest, which includes the cake (bride's preference of style), set-up, presentation, china and silver flatware, plating and packaging.
If a bridal couple prefers to contract their own cake, the provider will be responsible for cake set-up two hours prior to guest arrival. The Mansion will supply a table, skirting, china, silver flatware, and packaging at a cost of $3.00 per person. Contractor must provide containers for any extra cake.
ENTERTAINMENT
You are welcome to contract with a soloist or a small combo for the wedding ceremony and/or reception. There is a seven-foot concert grand piano and also a digital portable piano available at the Mansion for your convenience. Wilkes-Barre City noise ordinances apply, so volume must be held at a reasonable level.
SMOKING
Smoking is not allowed anywhere inside the Mansion. If your guests wish to smoke, they may do so outside in designated areas where appropriate ash receptacles are located. Again, city noise ordinances prevail.
PARKING
The Mansion offers secure parking directly across the street on the grounds of the Children’s Service Center. Since the Stegmaier Mansion is situated on a corner lot, guests will also find room on South Franklin Street directly in front of the Mansion, and on Ross Street directly to the side. The on-site lot connected to the Mansion on South Franklin Street is designated for the bride's limousine. Valet parking can be arranged.
PAYMENT
To reserve your special date, please issue a check made payable to the Frederick Stegmaier Mansion in the amount of $500. The check will be deposited upon receipt. You may cancel your reservation within 90 days prior to the event. In this instance, a 50% refund will be issued.
Menus and details will be selected, number of guests decided, and final contracts made 90 days prior to date of the event. At signing of the contract, please issue a non-refundable check for 50% of all estimated costs.
Deciding the minimum number of guests for which you will be financially responsible for and the fine-tuning of contract particulars must be in place 30 days prior to your event. Please remit a non-refundable check for the balance of the anticipated costs at this time. If the final number of guests surpasses the minimum number contracted for, an additional per person charge shall apply.
Incidental costs and/or refunds due you will be executed on the day of the event. If for any reason you should need to cancel or reschedule your wedding, all or partial credit of payments already made may be transferred to the new date only at management's discretion.
